Infrastructure
Servers we chose, in buildings we can point to.
We choose the hardware, rent it from certified operators, build and secure the server, keep backups elsewhere, and handle the ticket ourselves. This page shows where everything is physically and provides an address to ping before you pay.
What you are paying for
The building keeps the lights on. We keep the server up.
Power, cooling and the network are the operator’s job, and they publish how they do it. Everything from the hardware choice up is ours, and this is what it covers.
We chose the hardware
Dedicated AMD EPYC 9645 cores, DDR5 ECC memory and NVMe storage. The cores are allocated to your server rather than carved out of a shared pool, and we do not oversell them.
Every order is reviewed by hand
An engineer looks at the configuration before the server is built. It costs a little time and it catches bad setups before you inherit them.
Security baseline, then patching
On fully managed, we harden the server before it enters service and keep the operating system and platform patched after. The panel, the licenses and the setup are done when you log in.
Backups in a different building
Offsite backups go to a separate facility in Falkenstein, run by a different operator. A copy in the same room as the server is not a backup.
Engineers answer the ticket
The people who built your server are the people who reply, without a first-line script in between.
A written SLA, credited when missed
99.9% monthly uptime per service. When we miss it, the SLA says what you are credited.
KVM VPS
Two regions, one platform
Every KVM VPS size runs on the same hardware in both regions. You pick the region at checkout and we build the server there.

Capacity in a region is not unlimited. Every order is reviewed by an engineer before the server is built, so if the region you chose cannot be built straight away we tell you before anything is provisioned, rather than leaving you waiting.
Where everything lives
Where each service runs
| Service | Where it runs |
|---|---|
| KVM VPS | Nuremberg, Germany (Europe) or Manassas, Virginia (US). You choose at checkout. Same hardware in both. |
| Web hosting | Facilities in Germany, Finland and the United States, including Nuremberg, Helsinki and Hillsboro, Oregon. |
| Offsite backups | Falkenstein, Germany, with a different operator from any server they protect. |
| Client area and billing | The EU. Nothing about a European service is copied to the US. |
| Dedicated and custom | Placed with whichever of our providers fits the job, in Europe or the United States. Scoped per project. |
Who runs the buildings
We rent. We would rather spend your money on engineers than on concrete.
The facilities are run by established European data center operators, and the European sites we use are run by operators holding ISO 27001. We do not own a building and we do not hold a certification of our own, and we are not going to imply otherwise.
Dedicated servers and custom builds are placed with whichever of our providers fits the job, in Europe or the United States. If your compliance review needs the operator names, certificates and facility details, ask and we will share them.
For compliance reviews
Operator names, ISO 27001 certificates with scope, facility power and cooling specifications, and where each of your services sits. Available on request for enterprise and managed VPS customers.
Test before you buy
Ping it from where your users are
These addresses sit on the same network as the VPS platform in each region. Run a ping from your office, your laptop, or wherever your customers are, and the round-trip time tells you more than any map. Under 30 ms is excellent. Under 100 ms is fine for almost everything.
They answer ICMP only. They are not servers you can log in to, and they are not speed-test hosts.

Backups
Never in the same building
Offsite backups go to Falkenstein, Germany, with a different operator from any server they protect. Web hosting plans keep daily off-server backups for 30 days. On a VPS, offsite backup storage is an add-on you choose in the configurator, and it lands in the same place.
That means if a facility fails, your data is somewhere else. It does not mean automatic failover. Restoring into another region is work we do with you, and the SLA says exactly what is credited when we miss the 99.9% target.
Data residency
Choose Europe, stay in Europe
A VPS ordered in the Europe region runs in Nuremberg and its data stays there. Its backups stay in Germany. Our client area and billing run in the EU. Nothing about a European server is copied to the United States.
The privacy policy says what we keep and for how long. Custom builds that need a particular jurisdiction are a conversation with the enterprise team.
Common questions
Do you own the data centers?
No. We rent hardware in facilities run by established European operators, and we do everything above the hardware: choosing it, building the server, securing it, patching it, backing it up somewhere else, and answering the ticket. Owning a building would not make your server any faster. It would just cost you more.
Which location should I pick for my VPS?
The one closest to the people using it. Nuremberg serves Europe and the UK well. Manassas, in Northern Virginia, serves the US East Coast and is a short hop from most of the country. Ping the test addresses on this page from where your users are and let the numbers decide.
If I choose Europe, does my data stay in Europe?
Yes. A VPS ordered in the Europe region runs in Nuremberg and its data stays there. Backups for European services stay in Germany. Our own client area and billing run in the EU. Nothing about a European server is copied to the United States.
Are you ISO 27001 certified?
Red Water is not. The operators of the European facilities we use are, and their certifications cover the buildings and the operation of the servers we rent. If you need the operator names and certificates for a compliance review, ask and we will share them.
What happens if a whole facility goes down?
Your server is in one place, and this page tells you which. Your backups are in another, with a different operator, so a fault at one does not take both. Restoring into another region is engineering work we would do with you, not an automatic failover, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Live status for every service is on the status page. Facility facts on this page were checked against the operators’ own published documentation on September 6, 2026.
